Every day aid workers around the world are affected by violence and threats. In the first six months of this year alone, Insecurity Insight has identified at least 347 aid workers who have been killed, injured, kidnapped or arrested in 164 incidents. These attacks highlight the risks and challenges aid workers face while helping or saving the lives of others. They have taken place against a backdrop of heightened armed conflict and growing humanitarian needs with around 208 million people across 41 countries and territories expected to experience high levels of acute food insecurity in 2024.
